After 50 Years Apart, Single Couple Remarries in Emotional Ceremony: ‘I Shed some Tears’
In 1968, Harold and Lillian Holland break up after more than a decade of matrimony. Having hitched young, the pair says they were too immature to get the unification to go on – but their feelings for each other hardly ever went away.
About Saturday, they will walked over the aisle in a sweet wedding in a Kentucky church, established to live the actual rest of the lives mutually after years apart.
“It was emotional for me, Soon we will be honest, ” Harold, 83, tells PEOPLE of the wedding, organised at Trinity Baptist Chapel in their hometown of Lexington, Kentucky. “She stood up and I shed a few crying. It went back to the older time. She was fabulous when I wedded her for 17 years old and she is beautiful now. ”
Intended for the service, Holland put on a black suit having a lavender link to match Barnes’ attire. The 78-year-old star of the wedding wore a long white and lavender costume with a coordinating jacket. The couple smiled in photos as they wed surrounded by friends and family.
Most of their children and grandchildren were present, beaming because “grandpa committed grandma once again. ” The couple’s grandson Joshua, pastor of Level Ground Community Church in New Orleans, performed the ceremony.
“My favorite part was when he kissed me, ” Lillian gushes of Harold. “I’ve known him for a long time. Toy trucks had distinct lives in between, but the ones old thoughts started heading back. The wedding was great. It was simple and brief, but delicious. ”
The couple built headlines last month when media of their then-impending nuptials first of all broke. That they originally hitched in 1955 after conference at a restaurant in Salt Lick, and had five children -Miriam, Timothy, Mark, Laura and Larry -before divorcing in 1968.

The lady stayed residence with our five kids and i also never been told her object not one amount of time in my life.
